Source: Lexus Press Release

February 4, 2005 - Torrance, CA - Lexus announced manufacturer's suggested retail prices (MSRP) for the all-new 2006 GS 300 and GS 430 luxury sports sedans. The GS 300 rear-wheel drive starts at $42,900 and $44,850 for the GS 300 all-wheel drive with standard run-flat tires. The MSRP for the GS 430 starts at $51,125.

All GS models will include standard features such as leather and memory package with seat heaters, Smart Access system, in-dash CD changer, HID headlamps, curtain and knee airbags, wood and leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, 17-inch wheels on GS 300 and 18-inch wheels on the GS 430. The new Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system is standard on the GS 430.

Lexus also announced a price increase on all 2005 models. The MSRP for the LS 430 flagship sedan will increase by 1.0%, or $550, to $56,225. The SC 430 luxury coupe will increase by 0.6%, or $400, to $63,575. The ES 330 will increase by 0.6%, or $200, to $32,175. The IS 300 and IS SportCross will increase by 1.0%, or $300, to $31,105 for the automatic transmission and SportCross models, and $29,735 for the manual transmission model.

The MSRP for Lexus' full-capability luxury SUV, the LX 470, will increase by 0.7 percent, or $450, to $65,225. The GX 470 mid-size luxury utility vehicle will increase by 1.0 percent, or $450, to $46,225. The popular RX 330 luxury SUV will increase by $250, a 0.7 percent change, to $36,025 for the front-wheel drive model and $37,425 for the all-wheel drive. All price changes are effective February 7.

The GS has a new, sleeker look, with sculpted lines, slingshot-shaped windows, a wider rear tread and a longer wheelbase. This aggressive design makes the GS appear closer to the ground than it actually is, adding to an overall sportier appearance. Integrated foglights and an exposed steel-tipped dual exhaust accent the revamped look.

This available parking assistance system uses a combination of eight sensors to determine whether the GS will contact on object in its path. This sonar-based steering system, which also alerts you to the steering angle while driving forward, can help make fender benders caused by parking a thing of the past.

The GS 430 comes equipped with 18 x 8.0-inch alloy wheels, combined with 245/40ZR18 tires [2]. The GS 300 features 17 x 7.5-inch alloy wheels and 225/50VR tires [2], both standard. In addition to their sporty appearance, these lightweight wheels and performance tires allow for quicker steering and handle the road better. The Z speed rating for the GS 430 18-inch tires means that the tires are designed to accommodate speeds of over 149 mph.

A wood- and leather-trimmed three-spoke steering wheel and shift knob is standard on the GS, making the interior look and feel luxurious. Depending on your interior color choice, the rich wood trim will be golden bird's-eye maple, black bird's-eye maple or red walnut. Other interior accents include stainless-steel branded scuff plates on all door sills.
