EXTERIOR:

The redesigned IS incorporates the new Lexus design philosophy, L-Finesse. This is made evident throughout the exterior, with such bold styling elements as a wide stance; high, muscular beltline; and an aggressive, wedge-shaped profile. The aerodynamic design of the IS slices through air and wind with one of the lowest drag coefficients in its class: 0.28. The result is enhanced high-speed ride quality, improved fuel economy and reduced wind noise. By recognizing the unique secure code transmitted from your key, the effortless SmartAccess system allows you to unlock and open your car’s door and trunk without having to remove your key from your pocket or purse. It also activates a sequential lighting entry system that illuminates your points of entry from the door handle to the ignition button.

The available Intuitive Parking Assist utilizes ultrasonic sensors to aid you during those tough parking situations. As you begin to park, a visual representation of your car appears on the LCD screen showing your distance to the nearest object. Boosting both the aesthetic and performance qualities of the IS is a set of low-profile, 10-spoke, 17-in alloy wheels [2] wrapped with performance tires. Or you can choose to fit your car with split five-spoke, 18-in wheels [2] that are 8 inches at the front and 8.5 inches at the rear.

For better night-driving visibility, especially on winding roads, the available Adaptive Front Lighting System helps you see deeper into curves and farther around corners. The left beam can swivel from 0 to 15 degrees in a left turn, while the right beam can swivel from 0 to 5 degrees in a right turn. When it comes to road-illumination technology, available Bi-xenon High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps are not only several times brighter than their halogen counterparts, the xenon gas bulbs also use less energy and last significantly longer. Besides improving visibility during foggy or misty driving conditions, the striking foglamps also accentuate the front design of the IS by integrating stylishly into the lower corners of the bumper.
